Which looks better?
A room that is small with 'too' many trophies or a room that is large with 'too' few trophies?

I am beginning to greatly prefer the latter. I think the zeal for taxidermy has overtaken good taste too often. Wink

Of course the right answer is a huge room with lots of trophies!

Large room with "too few" trophies is what I would prefer..
But unfortunatley I have a small room crowded with mounts.. Frowner
Just bought a new house though, so hopefully I would be able to show them of better in a while.. Smiler

Large room with few trophies.

Use trophies like spices in cooking. A little goes a long way.

I hung two additional trophies in my living room about a year ago. I was very disappointed and regretted the decision. It made it look more like a warehouse of heads. Not really what I was looking for.

So, now, I hang the excess at the ranch and put a few here and there, in different rooms.

Agreed...less trophies make for a better presentation, especially if they are mixed with tasteful photos of the hunt, a little art and some good lighting.

I feel the same but in the same boat. My room (which is just my den converted) is getting pretty stuffed full and I still have more mounts on the way.

one of the things about a game room - it's hard to get one to big. i thought i had a decent size, but now i can't walk from one end to the other. remember that having a small room full is not a reason to quit hunting wave

A big room with a few mounts may be tasteful but its just not practical if you've mounted many of your trophies. I assume many people do not really expect to buy or build another substantially larger home but they do expect to continue hunting and mounting some of the animals. So a room or a house with a lot of mounts is inevitable.

How right you are, Mark!

At one time, I had mounts scattered about every room in the house except the master bedroom and the bathrooms. So I eventually converted my old spa room into a 14'X20' trophy room.

Twenty years ago, the space was quite adequate with room for more mounts. But that didn't last long. As a result, I had to add a 14'X36' room on to my existing family room just to house my African and NZ mounts. Although there's still some space available, it ain't much. Frowner -TONY
