Aspen Hill AdventuresBears Anyone?
Have any of you got any 1/2 or 3/4 mount black bears in your trophy rooms you can share a photo or two with me?
227 views and no answers, surely someone has one!
Here Ann, found some as I was surfing.

LocoEngineerAnn, These are not 1/2 or 3/4 but the small bear that is on the wall is one that my wife shot and is the mount that most people like best in my house.

Aspen Hill AdventuresWow, Loco, they are beautiful!
Bakes, thanks, there were some helpful photos there. I have also had one nice guy email me some of his photos.

Frans DiepstratenI cannot say that I like the bear mounts on this site very much. I'd prefer a rug and skull anytime. Taste, cannot argue about that...well you can, but you shouldn't expect to reach an agreement. ;-)

Aspen Hill AdventuresFrans,
I've already got one bear rug. And expecting some skins from Africa soon and well, am out of floor space! I am open to other ideas so pass them on.

trumboreHere is the one I sent images to Ann. This picture is better than the others I sent you.
I wanted a mount that would hang on the wall, but not take up as much space as a rug. I also thought a bear needed to be more than just a shoulder mount to do it justice.

He was estimated 205 live wt. Taken in Luzerne Co. PA in fall of 2002. According to PGC, 1 1/2 yrs old.

Just send some to me ;-) I have a good chance a bagging bears here myself, but I wouldn't mind a nice zebra hide ;-)
I very much liked the collection of heads on one cabinet, that I saw in Reno this year. It had a fair number of shoulder mounts of assorted antelope on a relatively small pedestal...that sure saves a lot of wall space. I have that picture at home somewhere if you haven't seen it yourself.
Other than that or building another wing on the house...sorry, no ideas...the ceiling maybe? ;-)

Here is a black bear half mount. I killed this one in Canada.

daveinthebushThis is one being made into a rug right now. 7'2" x 7'4" and the skull measured 18 1/2. Bow, on the ground at 20 yards.

Aspen Hill AdventuresNice bears, there guys....
Yes, I think a 1/2 mount will be the way to go for this bear of mine.
I wish I could be of more help, but I have no photos--because he's still at the taxidermist's. I'll try and explain. It is a half body mount, and will be on the wall just to the left of the large entry into my game room, the same wall the entry is on. The left front foot will be on a log protruding from the wall as part of the mount, but actually seperate, the bear turning back very hard looking basically behind him at people coming in the entryway, looking back so hard that the right foot is kind of just hanging in mid air. I've not seen one like it, nor has the taxidermist, I just thunk it up and thought it would look good. I didn't really want a rug for about the same reason as you, and had contemplated selling or just getting rid of the hide.

muttleysgoneHere are a couple of photos from the Mutt's doghouse. They aren't half-mounts, though.
Most of my money I spent on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted

The Safari RoomIf your still looking... take the time and click on this link to our bear section..
http://www.thesafariroom.com/Bear.htmlAll half mounts on this page have been altered to make them true half bear mounts.
The problem with most 1/2 forms right out of the box is that they are more like 1/3 mounts. We take the time to add to these forms and our clients can really see the difference in the final product.
