My humble trophy room (Man Cave)
Here is my small collection of trophies. I have my gun safe and reloading equipment in the room as well as a 13" TV with VCR and DVD player. It is my little hideaway. Notice a few gunstocks hanging around, an indication of works in progress; all pre 64 Winchester 70's except my little Oberndorf clone.

The two six points are mine the eight point was my friend's.

My bear is a pretty nice one. They had a heck of a time weighing him and I was given a weight of 250 pounds but that was with 4 guys holding him off of my tailagate.

That is a pretty nice Timber Rattler, 48" on the wall (minus head and neck) with 12 or 13 rattles and a button. I actually had a bigger one but left it hanging over a pool table down in Georgia 20+ years ago.

Here is my Eastern Coyote, a 40 pound male.

I like the way you had the bear mounted mouth closed. It's a nice change from the often seen snarling killer bear...

Thanks for the pics.

I never saw one snarling in the wild. I do wish that the mount would have had his fang hanging out as it did on the bear.

Here is a pic of a mama bear and 3 cubs that was in a tree out my kitchen window this spring. She didn't growl or snarl when we took a good look at her from under the tree. They may have been up 15 ft at the most.

I did a little house cleaning at Photobucket and had to redo the image codes here. I revised some pics as well.

Other than the TV your room reminds me of the photos gunwriter's "man caves" that used to appear in the hunting magazines in the 50s and 60s. I seem to remember a photo of Elmer Keith sitting at a desk in a similar room.

I appreciate the retro look.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I like how you have your trophy room, and I would have a place to admire my trophies (I have no place, no trophies) and if it can be reloading ammunition, great.

Oscar.

I too like the closed mouth bear mount as well as the coyote. Nice "man cave" -- good place to think deep man thoughts.

Nice snake! Where from?

Your bench is a contrast to mine. I have been making mine neat for 25yrs and not close to you.

Yes. The closed mouth is perfect. I have not seen one snarling in the woods. I would like to have one mounted with a yawn.. have seen that. The sow and cubs is excellent.

I haven't visited this forum in a while. The Timber Rattler is from northcentral Pennsylvania, about 20 miles off of the NY line. I have gotten two larger in my life with the largest taken in Georgia, a 15 rattle and a button, which was probably a "canebreak" as it was very light colored. And another one from New York state, which was a little shorter, but had 16 rattles and a button. All were yellow phase. I have never seen a black phase in the woods; the yellow ones are hard enough to spot. All of the snakes were taken well over 20 years ago. They are pretty much protected throughout there range these days. PA's Timber Rattler restrictions are nuts. Thanks for all of the comments.
