Christmas buffalo trophy
This is a commission I recieved from one of our members in Canada, for a Christmas present for his friend Jim Haney (also a member on here) The piece is a 7inch wedge circle of Optical crystal which I have hand engraved with Jim and his daughter Lauren with the buffalo Lauren shot in Africa. All the engraving was carried out freehand using a dentist drill working from the photo shown. The piece actually looked better in "the flesh" than it does in the photo, I had many attempts to get this photo as engraved crystal and the lighting is difficult to a professional engraver but very much an amateur photographer. I also show how the engraving progressed through to the finished piece and the drill used

as you can see on the actual photo there are alot of flies on the face of the buffalo ,which I didn't engrave ,but I later decided to add one fly on it's nose

Incredible. How long would a piece like that take?

Hello David,
I wish to personally thank you for this beautiful work of art. To say the least, I am stunned by my friends generosity and your artistry. As you can see from the smile on my face in the picture,
this is one of the happiest moments in this proud father’s life. To be able to immortalize it in such a unique manner is truly magnificent. From my daughter and myself, again, thank you
for this treasured heirloom.

Sincerely,

Jim Haney
