Starting to build my trophy room - Finished pics added
At last - after having my trophies stored in the garage and other odd places I have started to build my trophy room. It is a thatched "lapa" just off our pool. The lapa is shaped to have one of the walls as high and as big as possible to hang my trophies on. We will put in a small bar ans braai area as well. Here are a couple of pics on the building process.

Offloading a couple of Tamboti logs that will put in for "aesthetic" pleasure and to give the bushveld feel

I will update as progress is made

Glad you'r getting a place for the trophies. 'Looks like it will capture the bush perfectly.

It is starting to take some shape. We chose a light brick so it will show the trophies off nicely. The wall on the left has been made high and solid which will be the main wall for the mounts. The braai and gas braai have been installed as well as provision for the bar.

It hasn't taken this long to build but just haven't taken photos of the finished product. The quality of the photos are a bit poor but my camera has given up on me so these are photos form my cell phone.

None of the trophys are "Rowland Ward" but they are all trophys to me

From the front of the Lapa

Bar with some of the mounts

Braai area, this elephant tusk has been in the familty for 4 Generations but unfortunatley the story behind it has been lost

A closer pic of the mounts

The picture of the Warthog and Impala came out too dark I will post a pic of them later.

Nothing better than an outdoor trophy room next to the pool.
Magnificent!

Wow! I want one! Ain't gonna happen, it would cost a fortune to find someone who could do a thatched roof like that here in the states, even if you could find somebody. Thanks for sharing.

I could handle living like that...braai (I need to get one of those things over here!), bar, pool...perfect!

I love it, but I'd be concerned about several things, including but not limited to:

1. Insects
2. Theft
3. Smoke from fire and airborne grease from cooking food being absorbed by the mounts and quickly staining/ruining them.

I've seen some mounts that have seriously yellowed and looked generally shabby simply by being in a room for a few years where people regularly smoke cigarettes and cigars. You ever look/feel under the hood of an oven's vent fan? Nasty.

Anyway, whatever works for you and makes you happy, and it looks very comfortable.
