Ostrich egg ideas
For those of you with any talent in sculpture, here are some ideas of what you can do with those ostrich eggs you've accumulated over the years.

I had these made in Madagascar from some spare eggs I picked up in Djibouti.

I love that egg elephant and the lamp.

I wondered what to do with the ostridge eggs. I would have never thought of that. I am just not that creative. Looks good though.

If you've got a wood lathe or know a good cabinet maker, it ought to be relatively easy to make a similarly shapped lamp out of wood. I think an African wood like bubinga would be a good choice and zebrawood, if you find the right grain pattern, might be interesting as well.

Why not just place a few eggs in a nice African, wooden bowl!

To me, that's Africa. I have a bunch of Wooden Bananas, some snail shells, oranges, and some seed pods all in a wooden bowl that I picked up on one of my safaris. It looks great sitting on the table

Widowmaker, I have some of the wooden fruit as well and find it very clever when the wood is not dyed or stained at all, just chosen for its resemblance to the color of the natural fruit. What I particularly like about the ostrich egg sculptures is the originality of the ideas. After banging around the continent since 1977 you think you've seen it all, but I had never seen that done.
