Hog Killer,



I did some research on the Parker about 10 years ago. According to the SN, it was supposedly made in the 1890s. It has 36" Damascus barrels with exposed hammers.



Unfortunately, before I took possession, it had been stored poorly in an attic closet for many years and rusted quite a bit. I cleaned it as best I could without getting into the metal parts. The wood was solid black, but I cleaned it with a solvent to reveal a nicely figured stock.



As far as cramming everything into the room, just wait.



If you noted in the more recent bear mount photos, there are lots of skull/horns of African critters lying about that recently arrived from my 2003 hunt. Most are awaiting the return of the capes for mounting. There are at least nine of them, but I might do a couple as pedestal mounts.



And within the week, I'll be getting a red stag, tahr, chamois, Arapawa ram and wallaby back from New Zealand.



Soooo....we have to see what the future holds in regards to using a shoe horn to cram more stuff in that room. I'm working on a deal with my wife, though, where a new family room addition could possibly become the "African Critter" room. No concrete decision as of yet since she's relenting a bit about her offer.



RE: saw and hammers



Hey, I'm Italian and when I was a kid, construction/remodeling was a family pasttime on weekends. So learned a bit then, then took up woodworking about 20 years ago. Next to the trophy room is a pretty well-equiped 22'x24' shop. The photo below is just a small part of a recent kitchen remodel that combined the DR and kitchen in to one huge room. -TONY

Nice! My father was a licensed contractor as well as a music teacher so I can identify fully. Currently, I'm taking furniture building at our local CC. Last night we learned tenons. Great fun!

I thought those barrels looked familiar. I have a 1914 DH 10Ga, (3# frame) with 36"damascus. The bad news on my Parker is that it left the factory with 38". But I have taken turkey, ducks, and geese, with it. Just to have more fun with it I load it with Black Powder. The webfooted stuff got 1 5/8oz by vol. of Bismuth.

Geez, I didn't realize they even had 38" barrels on those guns.

Although the one I have looks fairly sound, I know for fact it hasn't been fired in at least 50 years. I'm not too sure I would want to take a chance shooting it. -TONY
