Larry SellersVery carefully

Not done it really as I have two rugs but they are on the floor and a pedestal mount. Help DOJ out here folks and I would like to see the results.

DesertRamDOJ, we used
these hangers to hang my mountain zebra hide. It's felted, but I think these would work just as well with an unfelted hide. Worst case you'd need to add a bit of weight on the "bottom" end to keep it hanging straight with a nice "drape."

reddy375You can also use rings that are sewn on, usually on to the backing. But lots of nails required in the wall.

Oday450Do a search in the taxidermy Forum. There have been several threads on this. As I remember, sewn rings or painted carpet tacks/nails were the most common solutions.

Outdoor WriterThis is mine hung with 3/4" upholstery tacks spaced out about 1' apart through the felt. The heads of the tacks were antique brass, so I stuck them in a piece of styrofoam and sprayed them flat black. Without felt, you can probably use them in the black stripes in most areas. They easily push into a sheetrock wall.

swampshooterI did mine, you really don't need tacks every inch. I put mine every two or three inches and it worked fine. I didn't have any trouble finding black uphostery tacks.

Jerry HuffakerThe best and easiest way I've found is to use sewing needles, they are cheap , hard and don't damage the wall. The are hard enough you can drive them in with a hammer and they are virtually invisible.

What I wrote was 1' i.e one FOOT. This is 1".

Jerry,
My wife uses needles occasionally to hang stuff, but for them to work, they must remain sticking out somewhat. That isn't too good if they are low on a wall that gets some people traffic, such as mine next to the dinning room table.

bull1Use the black upholstery tacks available at Home Depot. Place them in the black stripes of the hide. They work well.
