I've done some sub-sonic load development for 100 yd. plinker loads for the .308 Win.

I've found a load that produces consistant accuracy close to MOA in my .308 at 100 yds.

The problem is..... I can no longer find a source for this bullet! The company that made them (Mid-Kansas) went out of business about 5 years ago.

The bullet is a plain bevel based 165 gr. RNFP that was designed for CAS in .30 WCF (aka. thutty-thutty) sized to .310"(shown here)...



I've found some other companies that carry almost the same bullet, but they only offer it sized to .309" and all of my .308 Win. rifles prefer the .310" sizing.

Any suggestions?!!! TIA!

PS - Do any of you know what bullet mould design is used for these bullets?

Just about all the 30 cal 150gr to 170gr bullet moulds currently made are all designed with gas checks.

One of the few exceptions is an RCBS 150gr plain base flat nose.

You could special order a mould from Mountain Molds in Idaho, but that will likely take a couple of months.

You can play with his on-line design tool to get exactly what you want.

I special ordered a 285gr 35 caliber mould from him last summer and I am very pleased with it.

that is a standard magma engineering mold.
about any commercial caster can easily duplicate that boolit.
or you can do it yourself with 2/6 alloy a mold and handles.
oh yeah thats their lube also.

Lamar, the Magma Engineering mold you recommended is pretty close, but the 165gr. Mid-Kansas bullet (shown above) has a beveled base and I think it is a little longer in the nose.

magmas has the beveled base.
i can even get a gas check on the bevel.
i have this mold.
i wish it weren't beveled,and will take steps shortly to remove it.
the nose is also a bit too small at .298,
that will be fixed also.
not a priority a i have other 30 cal molds that do work much better.
for hand casting the rcbs 150 fn is a better fit and similar in design.
except it takes a g/c which you could leave off for subsonic.

Sub loads with accuracy are always interesting.
What load do you use on this bullet?

I had a box of these, but I can't recall where I got them nor if they were marked with mold information. I popped them off in my K-31 with good results when run slow (under 1200 fps), but hotter they were all over the place.
