375-06JDJ458 lott gas check flat nose mold selection advice needed
I would really like to find a LYMAN 462560 mold, but since it seems impossible, does anyone have a suggestion for a close alternative(Flat nose, and over 500gr). Saeco sells a 540 gr that is a flat point, but I was hoping for something with meplat. Suggestions greatly appreciated. wk

Paul HI've always wanted to try the big saeco mold in my lott, but never got around to ordering one. I did get a lyman 500 gr gc rn mold that shoots very well in my lott.
The best option is one Mountain Molds get's back into production is have him make you a mold.
If money isn't an object, ballisticast makes outstanding molds, and no problem getting a 500 gr .459" with a meplat.

Idaho SharpshooterVeral Smith (LBT) is back in business as well. He loves the WFN design he came up several years ago.
Like a 40+ caliber meplat on a 458. He can design and will cut, what you want.

PWSI tried that SAECO 540 in my Lott. The rifle is a Winnie rechamber and the factory barrel is oversized so it didn't shoot worth a hoot past about 1400fps. It loves a .460" diameter bullet though.
Being made by Redding, SAECOs are real nice molds.
If I might ask, what's the difference between a flat point and a meplat?

I believe "meplat" may be a french word for the flat point of a bullet.
I've never owned a Lott but most dangerous game cartridges have long, sloppy throats. Something to consider when choosing a cast bullet.

Me_Plat This is the bullet I use in a 458 Lott Encore pistol using H4350 and get good results.
It is an NEI mold I bought years ago.
