Re: Lyman 321297 in a 8x57
I just didnt' have much luck with the 321297 in the 8x57, but could have been the rifle. I like the 323366 best so far. Is that 297 originally a 32 Win Spec mould.

TCL,

I think you better sell me that '297, never do you any good..he-he! To be honest, I have not tried any cast in an 8mm but have shot my 32 special more than a little and the 321297 works very well in it. HOWEVER, it drops a bullet at .322 (my mould)and yours may cast bigger. I want a bullet to fit the throat and I bet a military 8mm Mauser has a throat upwards of .326+, therefore a .323 prefix mould would probably come closer to dropping a bullet that will fit. I have some kind of 8 mm mold in my 'pile'...don't know what it is now, just have to check and see....it may be a 323378....which casts a huge 240+ grain bullet. The good thing about such a design is the nose is very long and more apt to reach the rifling origin in the deep throated Mausers.
