One very nice fella asked me about the HBC design I'm working on for a Lee special order run. His comments were I'd be a shooten this one at 600 yards- hey?

I said NOPE. Na-- THIS ONE IS GONNA FLY TO 1000 YARDS OTTA MY '03 SPRINGFIELD!

Now to find convenient access to that range... minus a long commute.

600 yards is Mid Range. 800, 900, 1000 yards is Long Range. How far is the 1000 yard range at Lodi for you?

A: One very nice fella asked me about the HBC design..

F: What is a "HBC" design?

A: I said NOPE. Na-- THIS ONE IS GONNA FLY TO 1000 YARDS OTTA MY '03 SPRINGFIELD!

F: The project for me this winter is the "Big Fifty" purpose-built 1000 yard rifle.

I have the action located and I know Montana Rifleman makes 1:20 twist barrels chambered for 50/90.

A: Now to find convenient access to that range... minus a long commute.

F: Come on out to paradise. Here, I have the 1000 yard distance right over the hill, a 15 minute drive. Shoot on the hilltop, load at my place.

Good morning,
Forrest

Bob that's around a 80 some mile trip. Might has access to a gravel pit which is much closer. I have an area on the Buena Vista Marsh which might do in a pinch.

Hello Forrest,

Been awhile.. lots going on around here.

HBC= high ballistic coefficent

Now a fifty, that's some hole in the barrel. Watched a guy shooten a 50 Browning last spring... the muzzle blast itself should kill.. 240 some grains of ball powder under a 750 gr'r. Gives new meaning to the phaze 'reach out and touch someone'.
