Muzzel loader lube for cast bullets
Got a couple CVA .50 cal rifles as starter guns for the kids a few weeks ago. Also got a Lee REAL mould for them. I was wondering if any one has a home made lube they use for these bullets. The weather is warming up here and they want to get out shooting soon. Thanks in advance for your help.

Lots of folks use it and like it. It works on muzzleloader bullets and BPCR bullets. And it's easy to make.

Beeswax,Copha,Olive Oil to 4/3/1 mix by volume.

Copha is solid coconut oil that makes kids choclate crackles. This lube being vegetable based is totally free of harmfull salts.

When melting any lube mix, I heat in a bowl with about 1" of water in the bottom. On cooling the lube will float and any impurities will sink into the water leaving very clean lube.

i use the same 4-3-1 ratio but intstead of copha i use crisco

I've been using the Wonderlube sytem for over 5 years now. Nothing touches the barrel except wonderlube and wonderlube solvent. At the end of a hunt or shooting session, I wipe down the area around the nipple with wonderlube solvent, then run the same patch through the barrel, and hang the gun back up on the wall. Absolutely no rust and no major accumulation of fouling. No way I'd go back to using conventional lubes and scrubbing the barrel with hot water.

Hey junior, I mixed up some to try in my friends .58. I had a stick of 50-50 Alox. But I also have two bottles of Lee liquid that I never use. I was thinking of just adding a little more beeswax and using this liquid stuff if my friend likes it. Stuff is cheap from Lee. What do you think?
