Moly Coating Cast Bullets
I wanted to know if Moly coating cast bullets works to stop leading. I have 2 cans of MS Moly that were given to me and I was thinking about trying it on my 45-70 cast bullets. Since it is a spray it isn't nearly as big a pain in the butt or as nasty as tumbling with Moly. Just wanting some direction.

Thanks

I use Lymans Super Moly lube and I added this to some homemade lube I use to pan lube my 45-70 bullets with. I don't yet have a .458 sizing die for my sizer. I don't know if the moly helps or not, it certainly seems to be a step above what I was doing in the late eighties. If it is a spray, it should be simple enough to experiment with, just spray up some sized and lubed bullets and see how it works for you. At least with a spray, you don't have to get your sizers lube changed out only to find you don't like the stuff.

I tumbled H&G #68 200 gr boolits with rice and moly and loaded and shot em, no leading, no problem.....except the moly mess!

It worked fine at 45acp IDPA velocities 820fps. But FWFL and a star sizer is a lot less mess. I've still got the moly but only use it in 1 rifle.

Thanks Soundman, I am going to use MS Moly which is a spray and not nearly as messy as tumbling. I think I'll give it a try.
