Anyone used a Lee TL452-200-SWC?
Anyone used a Lee TL452-200-SWC for a 1911 45 auto?



I just bought a Rock Island 1911 1A 45 from Sarco for $288.50 shipped, and I've never owned a 1911.



I used to shoot my dads Gold Cup in the early 70's when I was a kid.



Anyway, I want to cast this for the 45 as I have used it and it's a good Lee mold. If any one has any handloads for this application, I would greatly appreciate the input.

Try 4.5 gr. Titegroup very mild and accurate for me.

Did you Lee Alox tumble lube it?

And what did you shoot it with?

Liquid Alox thinned 50/50 with mineral spirits, a light coat then sized to .451 and another light coat. Only sized them because most my .45s have tight chambers and .450 groove diameter.

Got tired of the stickies, even when dusted with mica, found the BD45 230 to be a little more accurate. The Tumble Lube design can't be beat for a bunch of bullets in a little time though, especially out of a six holer. Since I had to size anyway I kinda got away from them.

Try Rooster Jacket. It's a tumble lube without the stickies. When dried, it's about like the coating on .22s. A search on this forum will find you the address.

Some of the boys are using Johnson's Wax. They warm the bullets a bit and gently tumble then set upright to dry.

It don't take much lube for .45 ACPs and .38 Specials.

I find the Lee tumble lube seems to be sootier, as it spits out of my Raging Bull, where the LTB (I'm testing now) is real clean.

The powder has somthing to do with it also.

The thing that bothers me about the tumble lube is I can never get a consistant OAL on my rounds. It throws off the bullet seat. I'm lovin' the Lyman luber cause the OAL has been dead on.
