youngoutdoors41 mag & gas checks
OK I haven't ever loaded cast boolits. I do have a box of 500 .41 210 grain cast boolits but they do not have gas checks on them. Can I shoot them as is at low velocity or do I need to put gas checks on them? Will be shooting them in a S&W 57 .41Mag. Thanks and God Bless, Louis

Lloyd Smaleall depends on how hard of an alloy was used to make them. Ive plain based bullets in a good gun cast out of a proper alloy well over 1500 fps without a gas check. Gas checks will only work on bullets that were made to be gas checked. You cant put them on a plain based bullet.
if they were designed for the g/c you can shoot them without the g/c in the 44 mag just at lower velocities.
i have a lyman swc type that is designed for g/c's and i shoot it with 5 grs of titegroup.
i have gone up to 6 but 5 shoots more accurately.
if they are plain based load them up they will go 1,000 fps pretty easily.
