added question on loading straight bullets
Hi All! Have any of you used the seating die with the top cut out so one can add the bullet after the case has already entered the die. That looks like 'the cat's meow' ..to me.You could watch the bullet go into the case ( well...1/2 of it anyway.) Jus' wondering...Dale

Ah! The old Vickerman seater concept. RCBS (and others) use the concept in their competition seaters. I use it in the .223, 30/06 and also have a .30/30 rig. It works well.

Three options (at least):

Buy a RCBS competition seater (Huntingtons has conversion kits available for other calibers past what RCBS offers)

Buy a Vickermann seater from Gussy as he bough the manufacturing rights.

I think Redding offers the same dies.

Search the gun show junk boxes for old Lyman PA (Precision Alignment) seater dies and also look for old Herters die sets as they made the same dies. Lyman may have some ratholed in the stock room as they made them not long ago.

This is a good concept and worth persuing./beagle
