Beartooth Bullets for the 404 Jeffery
I recently got a hold of some 380 gr gas checked bullets from Beartooth. I am having trouble finding any type of load data to use. I searched this site and found qoute from a post in 2009 but the original post has been erased. It just states they use a .424 beartooth with 72 grains of Varget for 2100 fps.
Having no experience with cast outside of a 45 acp I'm not sure if this is a good starting point.

Anybody on here have experience they wouldn't mind sharing with this bullet?

Got a couple boxes for plinking with my 425 Express,, loaded them @ 2000 fps and they grouped fine and didn't seem to lead my barrel. The only thing that queered the deal is they shot about 18" to the left and a bit down from the 350 X's that I usually used. Tried a couple in expansion media and they looked great in that respect though!

I tend to use more than enough gun

My 404 Jeffery loads for 350-400gr gas checked cast bullets are 63.0grs AR2209 (H4350) for about 1800fps and extremely good accuracy and for a light plinking load 22.0grs Vectan AS (same burn as Red Dot) for 1400fps, again extremely good accuracy.

von gruff developed loads with his 350-365gr cast bullets (depending on his lead mix) for his 404 using Varget. These were at or better than factory jacketed velocities. I know his loads but if you search you should come across them on this forum.

Thanks for the input. Any filler material needed on the H4350 load? If I remember right red dot doesn't need filler.

I plan on trying some different loads out in the next few days. I'll post my results along with a few pictures.

If you can find some, try Trailboss. Works great with cast bullets in my 450/400 NE and 416 Rigby. Lots of info on how to use Trailboss on the net.

After a little help from Eagle27 and Von Gruff I came up with some loads with Red Dot and Varget. Also have a few different loaded with Trailboss. Just waiting for a day I can go to the range and test em out.

Barnes original, Hornady soft, Hornady solid, Beartooth 380 gr, Swift A Frame, Barnes solid, Woodleigh Hydro. All 400 grain except for the Beartooth.

They look to be nice cast bullets keep us informed on how you go on the range with your loads. If you ever come across any Vectan AS shotgun powder (red and green flake) grab it with both hands, it is brilliant for loading cast, same burn speed as Red Dot but super clean burning.

Here are the cast projectiles I use in my 404, Von Gruff's superb bullet on the left with my own cast on the right.

Those two turned jobs on the right end.
Are they copper or brass? Can't really tell on here.
End one: is it HP or Flat top?
Brands?

Thanks much,
George

The 2 bullets on the end are turned from bronze. The one on the end is a Woodleigh Hydro Solid. It has a small hollow point. The one next to it is a Barnes Solid RN.
