Looking for a new supplier of cast bullets
My supplier, Custom Cast Bullets, can't get lead alloy at a price where he can make money.
He was great because he had a lot of the same molds that I have and use. He would cast and size bullets to the sizes that I use, .359 to .360 for 357, .430 for 44, .454 for 45 Colt, .459-.460 for 45-70.
Most of the commercial casters size their bullets the same size as jacketed stuff, a quananteed barrel leading set up.
At the current price price of commercial cast bullets I'm not going to start out behind the eight ball with leading.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jim,

I'm at a lost as to why you don't cast them yourself if you have the moulds. I can understand buying them if you don't have a mould, but have you thought too of buying the moulds?

Right now I'm building a casting deck and I'm am sort of out commission.
Custom Cast Bullets has helped me out in the past when I was involved with working up a bullet mold for the 405 Win. and needed several hundred 350 grain gas checked 45-70 slugs. I was testing the 350 grain 405 slugs against the 350 grain 45-70 slugs.
I saw he carried a 300 grain gas checked bullet made by Saeco. I bought 500 tested them and found I really liked them and was lucky to find two four cavity Saeco molds on Ebay of that bullet. This bullet turns a Winchester 92 into a 45-70 light!
It's nice to have back up when I get busy and can't cast.
Once the deck gets finished I'm casting several thousand 255 grainers for 45 Colts and 5000 140 SWC for the 357s.

Thank you.
I like casters that offer their bullets in various diameters. My 454 Colts like .454 and my 45-70s like .459.

arky,
A friend of mine recently ordered some bullets from Silver Creek bullets in Indiana. Apparently he is a new operation focusing on Cowboy Action but is casting for others. I know he will size them to a custom specification if he has the die. I don't think he has a website yet but his phone number is 812-987-5744. Caveat, I have not used them but my buddy was fairly impressed.
