45 colt bullet: Lyman mould
Hi,

I want to cast 45 Colt bullet.

I am looking for a Lyman mold 45 Colt ( for an Old Army Ruger with a R&D onverter).

Which mould is best:

- 452664

- 452424

- 452490

Or would you have any advice ?

Thank you for your attention. This is a great forum

I have one 255 grain Lyman mold, two cavity. When I used it I found it very accurate, but leaded like mad. Then I discovered sizing the bullet to .452 was my problem and started saizing to .454 and leading went away.
I bought 2 four cavity Saeco 255 grain 45 Colt molds. Keeping six 45 Colts fed requires lots of bullets and found Saeco makes a better mold then Lyman.
Measure the cylinder mouths by pushing a soft lead bullet through, using the same path the loaded round would push the bullet though. This will tell you what diameter you'll need. All of my 45 Colts use .454.
