A pleasant Sunday afternoon...
Big yard sale in town on Saturday and I picked up a Coleman stove for $5. Tested it out today and turned 300 pounds of dirty cable sheathing into 300 pounds of shiny ingots. That should keep the .30/30 fed for a month or two...

Cool, I cooked some today and it mostly sucked, I was trying different techniques of dropping into the mold, pphhphphhhh, forget it, i went back to the way I was doing it.seems I had it right the first time.LOL..now tomorow I need to cast some real bullets that will work. The coleman stove seems to work well for this too.
Also, I ran out of kerosene, so I used regular unleaded gas, works fine too.My wife thought something would blow up or something LMAO..

My old set up was a gas burner in the basement. Not real happy with the ventilation and such down there. I bought an electric pot for casting and it works fine, but smelting at 10 pounds a pop doesn't put a smile on my face. The Coleman handles 80-100 pounds of metal just fine.

I know what you mean about changing technique... I was a dipper caster till I got the electric pot. Was a pain learning to bottom pour.

I got me one of those portable work bench with the vise top, set it outside on the patio off the workshop, bucket of water about two steps away, nice setup, inside the shop is a window fan, so when it gets cold, I can go in right under the fan. But it never really gets cold in Ga.LOL I know what COLD is, I grew up just outside of cleveland.
