Mountaingun, the aluminum I have is very large and it takes a while to saw into pieces. It was free so I can't complain. The other stuff I had was 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 already. Since I only have the Smithy and a drill press and no way to line bore, it is the only way I can keep the two pieces in perfect alignment. The only other way I have to do it is to pin two pieces together and then mill the outsides down. It is easier to keep the center aligned by sawing the blocks after doing the outsides. Hardest thing to do on the Smithy is to make a perfectly square block.
