I have been told that when shooting cast bullets, it is critical that the bullet be seated out of the powder or acuracy will suffer. In other words, the rear portion must be entirely enclosed within the neck. This is fine in an Encore or Contender, but I'm buying a custom levergun--which precludes seating the bullet way out. I'm interested in several GNR wildcats with short necks. These chamberings necessitate seating the bullet into the powder in order to keep the COAL short enough to feed in a levergun. Does this limit me to using jacketed bullets or choosing lower-performance chamberings with long necks? Also, as long as I crimp the bullet really well, will short necks pose a problem in a tube mag under heavy recoil?
