bfrshooterRe: Cast bullet terminal performance
Lloyd, Nothing at all wrong with a Keith boolit. The reason I like the LBT wlngc and the Lee is because they come in heavier weights then the Keith. I get a lot more penetration if bone is hit or a quartering shot has to be made. I shoot a lot of Keith boolits also. In fact any boolit is good for hunting unless it has a round nose. These have to be soft do do any good. Hard to shoot a soft boolit fast without leading. After all, a round ball in a muzzle loader is deadly, but needs to be pure lead. With the proper alloy for the boolit style, all will work.
Remember though that I am talking revolvers here, not rifles.
I shot a big doe last season with a cap and ball revolver. I broke both shoulders and she only got less then 30 feet before giving out.
I just think it is a matter of what a guy likes to shoot. I do know that after a pile of deer, I found the cast boolit more deadly then any condom bullet.
I shoot the ball very fast out of my cap and ball without leading because the lube is in front of the ball. I just can't do it with a modern revolver and smokeless. Strange!
