Sir,
not sure about what you've described. You might look at the thread about "pig pipes". That is one way to do it.

Here is a link to a simple way you could either buy or build

We use spin cast feeders with rechargable batteries and solar panels

or demand type feeders.

Phatman,
These were taken on a low fence/no fence ranch north of Vanderpool Texas. We do feed pens in order to supplement protien, but keep hogs from eating everything.
This was in an area of the ranch where we did not hunt. Happened to be where axis ranged in and out. We kept game cams set up year round. I go up to my lease(s) monthly. Sometime it seems, the anticipation of seeing the gam cam pix is the highlight of the trip. Here are a few more from that same ranch.

The gravity feeders are big trouble if you have any appreciable hog population. They quickly learn how to empty them. I ended up having to fence all of mine to keep the hogs out.

Believe it or not, we do not shoot game in the feed pens, nor hunt in the general vicinity. The pens are set up for supplemental feeding bewteen January and the end of September. The hog panel/fencing is to keep the horses/cows/hogs from eating up all the protien and minerals.

We do not engage in supplemental feeding during the hunting season from October through December.
