Another Good Trap Session

They've been regulars so I just baited and waited. Nothing yesterday but had 11 in the trap when I drove up this morning. 2 shoats and the rest big ones. I started my running pig shoot and during the

one shoat and 2 grown ones escaped.

ended up with 8 on the ground and two expectant mamas had 6 more yet to be born.

interesting how they can find a way out of that trap when the lead starts flying. You should strap on the six guns and climb in the trap with them.

They broke thru at the location where two panels connect at a t-post. Weak spot in my design as I did not overlap the panels. The shoat squeezed out thru the 4" x 6" opening, so I'm gonna see about some panels with smaller openings to stop that. County starts paying a $5 bounty per hog next month so I think I can pay for at least part of the new panels.

I watched a video last year, March 2017, at a seminar put on by TP&W and it showed a 130 to 140 pound sow, jumping a 4 foot high panel.

I've never had one jump out of this trap--but lots of them flying into it maybe 3' off the ground and falling back into the trap.

I used to have a figure 6 trap here and watched about a 150-lb boar climb out of it and run off as I stood there and emptied 7 rounds out of a .22 pistol at him in vain.

Nice haul!

On Tuesday I moved one of my traps a few Kms from one bend in the river to another and caught and shot 4 sows in it this morning. Two largest had 7 and 8 piglets in them not long for birth - so 19 pigs with 4 shots

After a boar decided he didnt like to poor shooting of a friend and climbed over a 1.5m Jager panel https://jagerpro.com/hog-trapping-panel-selection/ we've upped them to 2.2m - so far so good

Nice haul!!!

I've had quite a few over the years jump traps meaning they jump right out of the trap when we show up. The tallest we had was 72" or 6' tall and some cleared the panels without even touching it on the way out hahahahaha. I had a 110# boar jump out of a 5' tall corral trap from a dead standstill and he didnt touch the top on the way out. Unfortunately for him l had my hogdog with me who ended his escape plans b4 he hit the ground lol

I've watched 2000lb white face bulls so fat they waddled jump a 6' fence or gate several times.

6 ft!?

I thought adding more wire to our 150cm (~5ft) panels to bring them up to 7ft (220cm) would be overkill but it sounds like it will pay off in the long run. Built plenty over the years with reo mesh roofs but you’re struggling to build one big enough to catch more than two at once and have to crawl in to get them out.
