Re: Bullet for 35 rem
In my opinion the Core-Lokt would stand a much better chance of retaining the core.
On whether you should take your 30-06 instead: I would think the primary determining factor would be the average shot distance. On our hunts I would rather see you bring the -06 because some of the country we hunt is pretty open and we can get shots out to 200 or even 250 that would generally be much easier using a scoped bolt action with a good trigger (I'm assuming ).

Best of luck,
Kyler

Thanks Kyler
My concern with the Core-lockt is whether it will open at 35 rem velocities. I take it from your response that it probably will. Tenative plans are leaning towards Cedar Ridge in MO, which looks to be a little tighter country. My 30-06 is a scoped bolt action, but the military Mauser trigger does leave something to be desired.

I have a friend who has used his .35 Remington twice with factory corelokts, and both times were one shot kills at about 100 yards on California hogs. He was limited on range, and had to pass on shots that the rest of us could take with confidence since we were using scoped rifles.

Bucktail - The 200gr. RN Core-lokt is a perfect match for the .35 Rem and the ranges the cartridge is suited. I've hunted Cedar Ridge and you will not get a shot much over 100 yards where a short, light, fast carbine is ideal. Good luck
