Eland SlayerTexas hog hunting opportunities?
I wonder if any of you guys here in Texas could help me out. I attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. I was wondering if there are any of you that have land, or know someone with land, within 45 minutes of Huntsville that has lots of hogs on it and would allow for some to be hunted (preferably for free)? I have a good friend that would also be interested. We are both very safety conscious. We would always leave the place cleaner than we found it. We would not be drinking or anything else unlawful. We could also try to take out any unwanted predators or varmints as well, if the owner wanted us to. I would really appreciate any suggestions or advise. Thanks.
I will keep my eyes open for you in the Mexia/Limestone county area for you, That is about an hour north of Huntsville. There are a good number of pigs around the Lake Limestone area and all the creeks and river bottoms but getting permission is tough due to the fact that most farms that allow hunting, they lease for deer and pigs but if I see something I will post you. The Trinity river bottom near you is covered up with pigs as well. I know it is a real pain to do but there is a great deal of public land near Huntsville, The Sam Houston National Forrest, about 160,000 plus acres that you can get a permit on and hunt but the rules and timelines they use may not fit what you have in mind but you can look it up online. { you have to wear safety orange, all portable blinds, etc] If I see something I will let you know,, drwes

Ryan CampbellEland,
I live in College Station and might be able to take you close by. I dont use dogs here because my hog dogs are in Brownwood but I could set you up in a stand over bait. Let me know.
