Bobby Tomek7mm Bullberry back in action w/ a small boar
Been a while since I pulled the trigger on anything other than paper, but that changed tonight. About eight small-to-medium-sized hogs showed up at a protein feeder, and I just happened to walk outside at the opportune time.
Dew was settling in, and my Kill Light wasn't able to penetrate the atmosphere all that well and afforded a dim sight picture. But my recently-acquired Zeiss Diavari V 3-9x42 did its job. I had picked out a hog on the far right side and was just waiting for a better presentation when a smaller shoat next to it spooked. A couple others ran through my field of view, so I thumbed back the hammer and decided to take my first best opportunity. Well, this hog decided to whirl and go, but he did so a little too slowly. Though the presentation was far from perfect, I knew the 120 grain Ballistic Tip -- tonight in fire forming loads developing just under 2500 fps MV -- would be up to the task.
Indeed it was. The bullet entered just in front of the hip (you can see the dark splotch in the photo) and exited about the midway point of the opposite shoulder. He only went 9-10 yards after the shot, but if trailing had been needed, blood was in abundance from the nickel-sized exit.

Bill/OregonNice work, once again, Bobby. I am guessing neither you nor your friends and neighbors have had to buy any pork in years.
