Took him out to the ranch to hunt the wheat field blind. as weather beat down a lot of wheat that combine would not pick up, and still had hogs coming in to clean up the wheat laying on the ground. Generally go to the stand about 2 hours before sundown.
Within 30 min or so we had 3 sow and half a dozen footballs come out of the fence line and feed about 250 yds. I would only let him shoot at 150 yds or less. They went back into the fence line and disappeared. a few minutes and they showed up about 100 yds. Got him setup and instructed to wait til they stopped. They didn't stop and headed back into the fence line. I urged him to go ahead and shoot. He did not connect on the first shot, on the second shot we heard a loud hissing noise and within a minute or two a bad smell.
Long story short...hit a 4" high pressure gas line that was laying on the ground.
Made the calls and handled it properly. THis line was hidden by 3 ft tall grass and weeds,
could not hit it from that stand again if you tried. (he did get the hog on the second shot). Quite some fun now about the "trophy gas line".

I just shoot barbed wire in two! From working in the natural gas industry I know how exciting a gas leak can be! Glad everything turned out ok!

That's a bad doins. Glad it was fixed
before fire started.

I was with a couple guys and one put an
'06 thru the side of a nearly full 100#
propane tank.
Like your's, it just hissed: long and hard.

Amazingly it didn't blow up as expected.
