woodsie30-06 For Wild Boars?
WOuld my 30--06 with say a 180 Nosler Partitions be a good combo for Wild Boars in CA.
I figuire shots around 150 yards or so.
Thanks in advance,

WhitworthMost definitely! That should prove to be a hammer on hogs! I'm a big fan of partitions......

Bear KodiakThat is arguably the best one-gun, one-load combination for anything on the planet, with the exception of dangerous game, period!

With those bullets, it is perfect for hogs from 300 yards to 3 yards.

And most everything else as well.

shanksponyYou should never have to ask if the 30,06 is suitable for anything. It just is!
Best cartridge developed for shooting almost anything in the world, I reckon anyway.

p dog shooterI use 220s out of my 18 in scout 30-06 at about 2300 kills pigs just fine.

GeedubyaI've shot them with everything from 22 long rifle, 12 gauge shotgun with #4 shot, 223, to 45-70. Shot placement is more important than caliber, especially if you are in thick cover. Shoot them on a line between ear and shoulder about two inches below the ear and they will drop and paddle. This shot takes out their vertebrae. They are DRT. I've posted this pix before. Its a hog shot at +/- 120 yds with a 85 gr. nosler partition out of a 240 Weatherby. He dropped at the shot.

Bob in TXLike the boys said, yes!
GWB-I see you are still using that Rasberry Jell-O as an attractant.

SevensWhere you are hunting hogs in CA? There is a ban on lead ammo for hunting in a large portion of the state - a good chunk of which spans the prime hog hunting areas. Your Nosler partitions may be illegal where you're hunting. (It's a dumb law to protect some condors who supposedly got lead poisoning from eating gut piles.)
Your 30-06 will be just fine, that's what I use too. 150 yards is a good average, but be prepared for further.

N E 450 No2If you are hunting in a "condor area",
a 165 or 180 Barnes x bullet would work fine as well.
If you do not reload Federal and Cor Bon provide factory X bullet ammo.
Federal 150grX and 180 MRX factory loads shoot great in my 308.
The 180gr MRX worked great in Zimbabwe on some big stuff.

RatltrapThat particular combo is good for most anything that walks in the Americas.
