Safari JamesHog Trap
Caught a few hogs in my corral trap. Built a 30' x 20' corral trap that works like a champ.

simangusNice lookin' trap. That's quite a catch of hogs. How does the door work in your trap?

Safari JamesThe gate is a "saloon door" type with springs. Hogs go in... gates close behind them. I also set it up with a 36" spreader with "para cord" tied to it and trailed 30-40 yards to a hide. I can watch the hogs enter the trap and spring the gate by pulling the wooden spreader out with the para cord. I use a set of "red LED" lights to illuminate the area for better visibility. Works like a champ.

Safari JamesInterestingly enough, the hog trap is part of a "hog eradication" effort in a neighborhood here in Central Texas. The hogs had caused significant damage to the neighborhood and the HOA asked for assistance. I process the hogs and provide the meat to families and individuals that are less fortunate or simply need a little help.

georgeldThat's great, good to hear the details.
Thanks for the reply.
You guys have a neighborhood bbq to celebrate the nice catch? OR are there so many anti cry babies around?
Keep at it, you just might reduce the hog population for a short time. Imagine this is likely to work you into a full time operation.

swifter 220Way to go James! I see that there are six pigs in the picture. Another week or so and there will be 14 or so move in to take their place. I was watching the news out of Dallas Tuesday night and some guys were complaining about the hogs tearing up their N. Dallas Golf course. The farmers and ranchers have been complaining for what 15-20 and the state has yet to do anything much to help eradicate the wild hogs. Now that the pigs are rooting up the golf course, maybe someone will take notice. By the way, I am in central Texas also.
