Charles SievertLong Leese Outfitters of Texas

BuglemintodayNever heard of them...

Charles Sievertlooking for a semi guided hunt probably over feeders. I have hip problems so can't do a lot of walking. My limit is about a 1/2 mile. I have a quote from hunting with jeff for 600 for a 3 day hunt with meals and lodging. and can tale 2 hogs each. I have hunted hogs there before and have been treated well. Only reason is the distanc to them.
Also plan to hunt late I have mounted a trijicon scope on my 338/06 TC encore.

Eland SlayerCharles,
You might want to try Boar Creek Ranch between Houston and Dallas. Here is their website:

Don't know anything about the outfitter, but I can't believe they would choose a name like that. In south Texas, hunting the long lease is slang for hunting the highway right-of-ways!

RattlesnakerYep, working my azz off right now. Haven't even been on the internet, much less doing any hunting. Hopefully my stay in nyc won't last too much longer. Anyone down south hiring?lol
Keystone - you should see the new hunting truck we bought.

Charles_HelmYou are still young -- make some money and come back home -- the pigs will still be here!
New York is not my kind of place, but you can get great Italian food and pastrami sandwiches...
03 July 2007, 07:18
RattlesnakerI'm doing alright. I've been up here for about 6 months now and it's going by fairly quickly. It's unfortunate because I really enjoy the work, too bad it has to be here in NYC.
I think I'll look back in a few years and realize it was a good move for me.
Heading down for my first hog hunt in two weeks.

RattlesnakerYep, I've heard it's a lush jungle down there right now. I guess all over Texas, really.
I can't imagine two consecutive years that can be any more different. Talk about two extremes.

The pictures I am seeing are as green as can be. Would be nice if next year has a decent but not excessive amount of rain.

Charles SievertI'm curious on what the last 8-9 posts had to do with my original question on long leese outfitters?
03 July 2007, 17:33
bluefinLOL.
Mr. Sievert,
There's not a place in S TX that doesn't have hogs. It really boils down to convenience of getting there (airport to ranch and back) and the accomodations/food/guide. I've never heard of this one in particular but they obviously sublease. The first clue is the snow on the mountain top of thier web page. $500 - $600 is the going rate I suppose. I have a hard time paying for a hog hunt only b/c I'm from here and I know that every time I take a hog I'm doing the rancher a favor.
Have you tried to Google "hog/texas" or maybe get more specific like "hog/sanantonio"? Lots of nice ranches around there that are very convenient to the airport. And personally I'd rather deal directly with the rancher instead of a subleaser. Good luck with your hunt!

Mad DogCharles, here is where I hunted in Feb. 2006.
www.lazyrhunts.com/Chris and Maria are excellent hosts. it is a 15,000+ low fence ranch about 100+ miles SW of San Antonio. We killed 6 hogs and 2 javies in 2 1/2 days hunting. Also saw lots of coyotes and 1 bobcat. My suggestion would be jan.,Feb., or Mar. in the dark of the moon. We could have killed more hogs, but the coolers were full!

3 meals a day, and tower blind hunting, or spot and stalk, your choice. Good luck!

I have heard lots of good about BoarCreek
I'm not Eland Slayer, but I've hunted BOAR CREEK RANCH,along with my two youngest sons, and took three good hogs!
BOAR CREEK RANCH is owned by Nick Frame, and his wife. The place is fairly small, but he has some good hogs on that place, and the woods are as thick as any you will find in that part of Texas. The hunts are over feeders, only, no stalking. Their hunts start at Noon Friday, and end at noon on Sunday. Lodgeing and meals are included. They have a common area called the Boar's Den, Airconditioned, with satalite TV, and shower, that is very comfortable. The meals are worth the price of admission! The hunt includes one hog, of any size. The house looks out over a small lake, that has fish, the fishing is included, but Bass are catch and release. They have a neighbor who does Gutting, skinning, and capeing for a seperate fee. There is a local taxidermist who drops by to see if anyone wants their services. They did two of our hogs, and their work was great!
There are a couple other hog hunting places in that area, but that is the only one I've personally hunted. This Ranch is about five miles off US 287, near Cayuga, Texas!
