Eland SlayerGood hog knife??
I'm looking at getting a nice Bowie knife for stickin' pigs. I'm pretty picky when it comes to the way a knife looks. I would like to stay under $75, and I would prefer either an antler handle or a nice looking wood handle. I hate all the new "retro" looking crap. I want something classical. I would like at least an 8" blade as well. Any suggestions??

Larry MatherneI have an orginal Puma Bowie knife that I got for around $65 dollars from Sportsmans Guide. It has a stag handle, and I think it is a handsome knife. The blade is only 6.5 inches long, but it seems to work well enough for me. It also makes an excellant butcher/skinning knife, it holds a pretty good edge, but is also easy to sharpen. A lot to like, if it had another inch or so of blade length it would be perfect, but all in all a pretty fine knife for the money.

LWDPuma Bowies are fantastic knives. Sportsmansguide seems to be out of them. I bought mine at Natchez Shooter's Supply:
Puma Bowie at NatchezThis is one of the best knife purchases I have made.

juanpozziDEAR FRIENDS IM NOT A BIG FAN OF PURE BOWIES BECAUSE OF THE POINT THAT CAN BE BROKEN IN SOME MODELS ,I ALWAYS PREFER A DOUBLE EDGE DAGA LIKE APPLEGATE SMATCHET ,OR A COLD STEEL MAGNUM TANTO,OR A YARARA CHANCHERO ,VERY CHEAP LOCALLY MADE.BUT I HAVE A BIG BOWIE FROM ONTARIO KNIVES -THE MARINE RAIDER BOWIE -.JUAN

analog_peninsulaMuela makes many stag handled knives and they have a decent reputation for solid workmanship. Ebay is probably your best bet to keep things under $75.
More utilitarian would be any one of a number of knives from Ontario Knife. Their SP6 would be a place to start.
