AzDeerSlayer.17 HMR for javelina
I got a new .17 HMR and would like to use it in feb. for Javelina. Has anyone use a .17 for javelina and if you have Iwould like to know what loads you used?

Hog KillerJack rabbits are not always a clean kill with the 17HMR. Javelinas are tougher than jack rabbits, to quote Robert Roark "Use Enough Gun". If you go to kill something, kill it clean, not with the littlest gun in the house. And yes, shot placement is the most important to a clean kill.

DesertRamI don't see how one could consider the .17 HMR an ethical choice for anything larger than rabbits and woodchucks, but that's just me. On another note, you might be in violation of state law by not using a centerfire. I'd check AZ's regs.

WhitworthI agree 100% with Hog Killer and DesertRam. That microscopic bullet will only work with absolute precision placement with absolutely no margin for error. I would reconsider.

Old Elk HunterThat little fragile bullet will most likely create a crater on the javelina's skin and end up wounding the critter. Probably not a wise or responsible choice.
