DUKE NUKEMOK Can someone explain the American Hoggers Show to me?
Why do the hot girls on the show tie hogs up?
Barbie is sitting next to me last night screening "JUST SHOOT THE F__KER! (Myself I refrain from such colorful metaphors.)
My thoughts exactly.
The blonde just quite working for Gimp-Pa so I'll take her. : )
I would surely find the show more edifying if they would just shoot the hogs.
The busty plump girl already lost an appendage mud wrestling with hogs. What's next? Teets?

Patricio GaudianoA lot of people tie the hogs they catch instead of kill them for several reasons, some to sell live at a processing plant, others to sell live to game ranches, and others catch , castrate and release...

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

larrysAnother factor is that some networks, like A&E, do not allow the showing of actually killing the animals, unless it is by another animal, like an attack. Discovery and Bravo are the same way. Similar to the Outdoor Channel does not like to show any shot where the animal is not standing. (No bedded shots)

GoatwhiskersRather surprised the other day watching a hog show where they catch 'em with dogs, then stick 'em with a knife. Showed the actual action. No idea what channel it was. GW
The possibilities for disaster boggle the mind.

duckmanThe Question I have is; Why does the cameraman always see the hog first???

swifter 220Duckman, you think he may be the one who pulls the release lever ????
Can you imagine if the show was called "Topless Hoggers", It would be the most watched show on TV.

duckmanI want that camera man to come and hunt with and I wouldn't need dogs! Save a lot of money on dog food.

Sure would make it interesting though.

90 percent of that show is staged. Those people live in my hometown and it was reported last year that they got into some trouble with authorities when they weren't able to find any hogs on this particular ranch, so they released some hogs to film the show. The hogs they catch are shot off camera.
I think it's a televised "Goober" factory!
The blond is a do'er though!
Topless and thongs would make it a bit more watchable.....unless the old man was in a thong!!!!!
.
I don't have any idea why people on tv do what they do, unless its to drive up ratings; but I do know around here there's a guy who buys wild hogs and ships them to wherever people want them, and people make some pretty decent cash doing it, if you don't mind the working conditions.
I've been at his place when a retiree shows up with a small trailer with 3 or 4 hogs and make a couple hundred bucks, depending on size. The old gentleman told me it helps supplement his pension and gives him something interesting to do.
I agree with HL 100%, ALL reality shows are staged to a large extent, as I understand.

Eterry
Good luck and good shooting.

Ryan CampbellHL is correct. 90% of it is fake. A LOT of the "catch scenes" are done in a high fenced pen, not on the "Ranches" that they are doing "jobs" on.
They are transporting hogs but I'm not sure why TPWD hasn't done anything to them about it.
The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.
I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.
