Here are 9 hogs we killed during a recent hunt...all with dogs.

That must have been a lot of fun. Considering how long it takes me to turn a pig on the ground into quartered meat on ice, I would be in for a long time at the skinning rack.

I noticed in the other picture some beatifull dogs, brownish colour, what breed they are??

We actually killed all of these with knives but sometimes we have to shoot them if the dogs won't catch them. I carry an old model 94 30-30 with me because it's small and I don't worry about it getting scratched, scarred, dropped in the mud or trampled by a hog. We are very particular about the shots we take due to the proximity of the dogs.

The dogs are all blackmouth curs with about an 1/8 walker hound bred into them to improve their noses and running ability.

It seems you hunt very similar as most hunters here. Many people here also use lever rifles and we are VERY careful when shooting pigs when dogs are near and we are VERY careful with whom we go hunting because of this. Some people get to excited and don't think clearly before shooting.

Thanks. Here is a picture of these same "puppies" catching a hog at about 1 year of age.

Good looking dogs. We use curs and walkers ourselves.

Some of those dogs look like they have some Rhodesian Ridgeback blood?

Rattlesnaker -- great looking dogs. Looks like they track and catch! They pretty much do it all, don't they! How much do they weigh on average? How many do you hunt with at one time?

Yeah, we do it a little bit different than some guys. We don't have any catch dogs. All of our dogs will hunt, bay and catch when appropriate but they are much less aggressive on a big boar hog than a bulldog would be. They will bay them up and we will shoot them. But for the thousands of hogs that we've killed, we've only lost a couple of dogs. Males are 75 lbs or so. We generally hunt with 4 - 5 dogs at a time but will take 8-10 with us and rotate them if we are hunting for a long time.

Man that sounds like fun. I've never hunted hogs with dogs, but it's on my list of things to do (near the top actually). Thanks for the info, Rattlesnaker.
