jawheelerHog Rifle Recommendation
I am going to have a new hog rifle built and I need some advice. I would like to have the rifle silenced, semi-auto, caliber larger than .22 and easy to mount accessories like laser lights and night vision scope. Was thinking about an AR platform.
I have used a friends silenced 358win and the cartridge was very effective. However it was bolt action and you have to handload for it.
Also, I see some companies who load subsonic ammunition like .308. What companies are out there for loading subsonic?

Charles_HelmYou should consider sending a PM to the Tactical Hog Control guys who post here.

density2Yeah, sounds like you need to ask people like:

GeedubyaYou might consider doing a 300 whisper on an AR platform. Easy to do subsonic.
Check out La.'s regs for owning suppressors.

Louisiana does not allow use of suppressors but Miississippi does. And I hunt in MS quite often. I think I am giving up on the suppressed idea anyway. The loss of range and energy is too much.

drewhenrytntJeff,
There are suppressors out there that permit the use of full power loads and are still less volume than a .22Rimfire. The problem is they are almost cost prohibitive. The newest Aries system will cost more than your rifle and scope combined and it may take a year or longer for your paperwork to go through. I am not as interested in suppressed as I used to be. I am now into shooting them from as far away as possible. I have a friend that regularly shoots pigs 1000-1340yds. He says they have no idea what just happened.

RustyYou have to realize that you are most liekly not going to get "Hollywood Quiet" suppressed rifles.
I have an Ops Inc. 12th model ordered to go on my AR. If I had a bolt action rifle to put it on I would use a 308 Winchester. Contact Tip Burns at Canyon Sporting Arms in Canyon Lake Texas. As his opinion.
