mike1973Boar hunting recommendations
Good Morning All,
I'm headed down around Lake Okeechobee boar hunting next month. With that being said, what should I prepare for, in the month of April, to make this a more pleasant hunt, with Insects, snakes, climate conditions, ants? What should I be cognicant of? What should I avoid while in the swamps? I've got some summer weight boots that fit well. Should I look into snake chaps?
Thanks for any advice. I appreciate it.
Mike

larrysThe water moccasins will be warming up and become more active. I would do snake boots or chaps. The mosquitos will also be doing better. Most recommend a Thermocell. Be sure to take some B1 as well, since it will help repel the mosquitos.

Larry MatherneBring some gloves, I like the deer-skinned ones as they don't interfere with the handling of firearms. Thorn bushes, briars, thorn-infested vines and such can rip your hands to pieces if you have to move fast. I also wear brush pants for the same reason. It will be warm, bring lot's of water. Good chance your feet will get wet so bring a pair of dry socks if you want semi-dry feet. I'd bring some good insect repellant, there may be ticks as well as mosquitoes.

joesterYou'll be A-OK, its different terrain for sure but dangers & annoyances are minimal. Ask your outfitter what he reccomends you bring. You'll have a blast - Hog Central!
