333_OKHMattole River Boars, NorCal
This was taken in the Mattole River of Northern California in Humboldt County. Excellent hunt, great lands with steeeeeeeeep mountains.
Stalked from 300 yards to 25 yards and shot it in the head with my custom Montana 1999 6.5X55 with 155 Lapua Mega. But at that range it didn't really matter much.

There are actually two nice buck in that picture...one standing in the left of the pic and one with just his head showing...and yes those are hogs out there at 700 yards.

333_OKHThis area is often forgotten since everyone think San Francisco is so close to Oregon! When we hear Northern California come up we laugh when it is the Bay Area. We are five hours from SF and 2-2.5 hours from Oregon. We are NorCal.
I am 6'8" and 300 pounds so that gives you some scale for this picture.

A7DaveBeautiful gun, great caliber. Didn't realize the Mega's were so tough.

They really are. I have broke both shoulders on a 400 pound black bear from 125 yards broad-side. This pig was shot in the head and it traveled from one side to the other and stuck in his leg.
