I would look no further than Dixie Slugs, Tom.

Brenneke!

The Euros are mad about Brenneke slugs and they shoot more hogs than we do.

I've allways used standard Winchester rifled slugs, though only in 20g. This was my main weapon for hunting pigs over dogs for some years, and it knocked the biggest of Boars on into the next week. The gun was a shortened Harrington and richardson Pardner, and was effective out to about 30 meters. Gun and a good boar can be seen in this photo
Shot through the shoulders from 15 yards, he never went anywhere but down.

Ah yes, this is true, but there is a new Sheriff in town and he goes by the name "Dixie Slug!" Seriously, go check it out!

Here and in sout-east of France, about 30/40% of hunters use shotguns (almost always 12 ga.) for driven hunts; the landscape is bushy and wooded, so, shots are usually taken within 50/60 meters, often less than 40 meters. Brenneke are widely used, as well as Sauvestre sabot and Gualandi. A well placed slug is very effective at those distances. I started my boar hunter career with a 12 ga. Remington 870, with rifle sights barrel, that allowed an unbelievable accuracy with Gualandi slugs.

I have had very good results with the Remington copper solid and the Federal Barnes Expanders.
