Yesterday hunt with pictures
Well,

I have just arrived from the farm. A little bit tired but who cares.. Wink

We sat early under some thornbush just under the top of a small hill (yest the same small hill I always talk about Big Grin).

It was 6:30 pm and it was very hot, we were several feet over a small valley with has a small spring creek running through.

The insects where terrible, the continue noise of them flying around was amazing, only covered a bit by the hundreds of doves singing (doves don't sing but I don't know how to say in english whatever noises they do...)

Afyer a couple of hours my legs were stiff under the uncomfortable position but I have no choice but to stay still.

Around 8:30 pm the insects disappeared and the doves stopped "singing", the sun went down and thanks God the weather was a little bit cooler.

The ambush ready (my hunting buddy covered his face to avoid any shinning because of the sunlight)

A closer look at the baiting area..

Suddenly around 9 pm a branch broke inside the bush !! I jumped and came back from that kind of sleepness sensation that invade us while waiting at the blinds !!

The pig appeared and my hunting buddy rifle went BANG !!

The pig fell, got up and run into the forest !! Frowner

Inmediately we went into a search and destroy mission Big Grin, I with a flashlight and my buddy with the rifle and another flashlight.

We split once inside the tall grass and bush trying to find some blood but nothing, finally I run out of batteries and quit the search, it was already dark and I fell into every single hole of the valley.

Enough for me, on top of the hill there was a cool box with cold beer waiting for me !!! My friend was really upset so obviously he spend some more time searching in the creek below me.

Not too much talk on the way back to the farm house, the obvious "why we don't did this or that, if I have wait only some more seconds, etc, etc but there was nothing we can do so we went to sleep deciding to return the next morning to see if we can find some spoor with the daylight.

Up at 7 am, a quick tea and off to the bush, not 20 minutes of search and I find the pig dead only 100 yards away from it was shot. It was only 5 yards away from a fallen log I have climbed the night before looking for him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So to make the story short we retrieve it from inside the bush to the feet of "my" hill. I was so tired of pulling that pig through all that bush that I ended with my tongue near the ground so I decided to make a plan Big Grin

As I am a very lazy hunter I am always prepared for these situations !! rotflmo

I brought from my truck near 150 yards of rope Big Grin, tied the pig nose to one end and the other end to my truck and pull up the bloody pig out of that creek Wink

Horsepower is always good!

Where is your trained hog dog Pancho? You'd have been home with the pig in time for dinner!

Now that's a fierce looking pig dog. Maybe you could carry him in your pocket IF needed for another search and destry mission.

Good job and great story.

Did the pig spoil? I'd hate it if all of your hard work was for nothing. BTW, Doves Coo.

Congratulation to boths!!! , but specially for the Shooter Federico, never trust on boards, even if You did not find blood,is very dificult to miss a shot like that, most of the time You will find the death boar no more than 80 yards around the shot place, next time gut-off (disembowel) it and federico alone can bring it to the truck. Regards Guille .

Thanks Daniel !! So doves coo...great !! I love to improve my english !!

No the pig didn't spoiled, the night was cool and we find it very early before the sun warms and it was under some thick stuff so all the meat is in the fridge Wink

The size of the dog doesn't matter, the important thing is his nose, and this little bugger is just a nose with for small legs running around my yard !!! Big Grin

Guille,

Nice hunt in Rio Negro and La Pampa !!! Suertudo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Thanks gentlemen

Coo = arrullo
Dove/s = paloma/s

El arrullo de las palomas...
The dove's coo..

Or something like that !! Big Grin

You must hear them at their nesting places like the one I hunted that pig. The sun going down with all the different types of green (spring time) and hundreds or thousans (who knows)of doves doing coo...

Beatiful evening was that!!

Which prove to me once again, that worldwide, we group of hunters get more opportunity to just enjoy nature for natures sake, than most other groups. The doves in the evening must be a special part of hunting in your peice of the world.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Ok we have a deal Big Grin

I am going again next thursday...let see if I find something new at the baits.

The wheat has not been thresh (sp?) yet so it's impossible to stalk them in the open at night but in december it will be "party time" Wink
