Are Hogs the New Zombies?

scottfromdallasAre Hogs the New Zombies?
First it was zombies, now it hogs. You have manufacturers releasing hog specific firearms, scopes with "pig-plex", razorback ammo.
They are both a threat to mankind and both are trying to take over the world. Of course, one is a real threat and the other is fantasy.
Just an observation.

http://img.photobucket.com/alb...dont_zpse2522032.jpgWell if they are, they're low rent zombies, cause I've done fer' an number of them with poly-carbonite, lead and copper.
But come to think of it, I do employ ballistic SILVER-TIPS on occasions.

Big-footNever ate a zombie, guessing hogs taste better though.

dustoffergeedubya--how 'bout you and I post pics of all the hogs we've killed with "not enough gun"

Anyone who thinks it takes a cannon to kill a little old piggie hasn't shot one in the brain housing group with a .22-250 obviously. Zombies they ain't.
An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Mike SmithIf pigs are the new zombies maybe we should look up our buddy TEX, provided he has not shot himself again.

scottfromdallasMaybe I should clarify the thread. I was talking about from a marketing strategy. Seems like manufacturers have more and more products marketed for killing pigs.
I can buy a Savage Hog Hunter in 308, mount a luepold fire dot with a pig plex reticle, and load it up with winchester razorback ammo.
A few years ago it was hornady Z-Max and various zombie decals on other products like scopes, crossbows, etc...
02 June 2013, 05:50
CrazyhorseconsultingYes Scott but some folks simply want to drag

issues about what calibers should or should not be used for shooting anything.
You are correct however, there sure seems to be a lot more "Pig" related hunting equipment of all kinds hitting the market daily almost.
Even the rocks don't last forever.

Mike SmithActually I will bet if you look real close you might be able to see where they pulled off the zombie or whatever stickers, and put the hog stickers on. I knew what you meant on the thread. I just couldn't resist the chance to bring up our old buddy and renowned zombie hunter, TEX! Always good for a chuckle. At least I thought so. Anyway, as far as the advertising types go this proves they will do and say anything for a buck. Same gear just packaged and marketed differently.

Sorry I came across like Buzz Killington, it was uncalled for.
It just seems like topics are getting derailed as of late over the continuing

contest concerning certain rifle calibers.

Wow, I guess I need to get out more or watch more TV.......
www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-oAm9eYx3wI guess I'm still of a pre-cambian mindset.
I'm still thinking you can kill hogs with traditional bullets and bolt guns.
Bummer.

You've spent too much time recently on the small bore forum.

No, you need a pig plex reticle and a premium bullet to do the job correctly. It helps if you have a rifle specifically designed to hunt hogs. I see those pictures you posted recently and I don't believe those hogs are really dead.

Ya caught me eh. Guess I need to add a disclaimer saying...........
"professional porker on closed circuit. No Sus Scrofa were harmed during the "shoot".

N E 450 No2The great thing about hogs is that they are good to eat.
I have never shot a hog that tasted bad.
However, even I would not try to eat a Zombie.

You are exactly right.

They must be thought of as "non edible varmints", not a food source...

Bob in TXAll kidding aside, I think you are correct Scott. The folks locked up in the marketing rooms saw how well the Zombie craze took off and are trying to do the same thing with hogs.
Not a bad idea though when you think of it....
but dear, I need to use a hog rifle for this, a deer rifle for that, a bear rifle for bears, etc....

Mike SmithI cant speak for anyone else's wife or significant other but mine is certainly smarter than that. So am I for that matter. Not going to buy a bunch of crap because some Douggie Howzer wiz kid in marketing puts a new sticker on it. It is still the same product good bad or indifferent. Majority of the hundreds of pigs I have culled have been with a fairly cheap 243 bolt gun and a cheap scope. Only change was to put a higher capacity magazine adapter on it. I have maybe 600 total invested in it. Again it is not what you shoot but where you shoot.
OH, I also refuse to buy anything that says zombie anywhere on it. May have to start applying that rule to this craze as well.

Kidding Mike, kidding.......tongue firmly in cheek. I agree with you.

Mike SmithI knew that Bob but I had to say it. she was looking over my shoulder.

Besides it is true! If it wasn't for her I would be in deep doo doo by now.
