Are the merle colored dogs Catahoula's (sp?) The black and tan looks like a Rottweiler.

I saw a very interesting National Geographic Explorer program, a few days ago, on how man has genetically altered dogs to fit his needs and the main segment was on the Argentina Dogos. It was very informative and fascinating.I learned much about the breed, what different breeds were bred to get the end result and how very different they are from the APBT, which they look so similar to. They are a much larger dog than I had thought they were. I also was not aware that they are bred to be all white. I thought there were other colors.

It's enriching to learn new things!

The dogo was specifically breeded white ,because the first breeds were black or dark colours and sometimes were shot ,mistaken them with boars ,each race in the dogo 8 in total were crossed with an specific pourpouse .Ihave many ,many photos from my dogs or my friends dogs working and ill continue posting .Juan

This are the races crossed spanish mastiff,bullterrie,bulldog,boxer,great dane,pirinean mastiff,english pointer,irish wolfhound,dogo of bordeaux ,in 1928 as written the standard of the race ,and in 1947 was written the firstarticle about the dogo in the local hunting mag DIANA .juan
