Bobby TomekTwo more piggies today
Well, the day started & ended with a bang -- literally. At first light, I took a boar at just shy of 300 yards -- my farthest shot on a piggie so far. I used my 26" 6.5 Bullberry IMP with 130 grain Accubonds at 2626 fps MV. This was basically an ADC-type situation, and recovery at that point was not possible. I did go back and recover the hog a bit later. The bullet hit behind the shoulder, apparently shredded the lungs (there was a frothy spray of blood) and exited through the opposite shoulder, leaving a nickel-sized exit. But the buzzards and fire ants had already begun to work, so there are no photos of this piggie. I estimate he weighed 180-185 pounds.
Just before dark, I took the boar in the above photo. The range was 145-150 yards. The bullet entered behind the shoulder, wrecked the lungs & chewed up (& through) the opposite-side shoulder blade but did not exit. He's the third boar in less than 2 days.

DesertRamWhack 'em and stack 'em eh Bobby? That's a nice hog. I haven't seen your .308 before - it's a nice looking rifle.
