CrazyhorseconsultingPecos county Javelina-Spring Turkey March Hunt Results.
Wrapped up my March Javelina / Spring Turkey-Javelina hunts on Friday April 3rd., with the following results.
Had 13 clients during the month, all but 1 got their javelinas.
The unlucky hunter had multiple shot opportunities, but due to lack of experience was just unable to connect.
The largest javelina killed weighed in at 59 pounds.
The hunters that were after turkey were all successful on really nice Gobblers.
I had two firsts this year, One, I skinned out a turkey for a Full Body mount for one of my hunters, without making any cuts or tears in the skin apart from the initial incision.
The second was killing a 50 pound (+ or- a pound or two) female Javelina with my 40 pound pull Herter's Fiberglass recurve bow and a Flint Tipped arrow at a range of 12 yards.
It was exciting as I had to get out of the blind I was setting in and put on a stalk to get close enough for a shot I felt comfortable taking.
I had an excellent group of clients for the hunts and really enjoyed meeting and hunting with all of them.

Bobby TomekSounds like you had an incredible season -- and recorded an enviable success rate percentage.
Congrats as well on the javelina taken the old-fashioned way. Those circumstances certainly tend to make suceess even sweeter.

CrazyhorseconsultingMany Thanks.
It was a good group of hunts and hunters, and we got to do some interesting spot and stalk hunts that gave the youths I had on the hunts the chance to experience something apart from setting in a blind, and learning how to take off-hand shots and connect.
As for the animal I took with the old Herter's fiberglass recurve and the flint tipped arrow, having been given the two arrows as a present, I felt that I needed to put them to the use the giver had intended when he presented them to me.
The God I believe in gave me the animal to shoot and gave me the ability to make the shot, even if it was not the best in the world, but I did make the shot, and I did recover the animal, and for that I am grateful to both the God of the hunt and to the person that gave me the arrows.
