Anyone heard or dealt with these
Looking for another pig hunt and was wondering if anyone has heard of these of two places for hogs. Good or bad?

Don Plumas in Trent, TX

Plaska Lodge in Memphis, TX

Any help would be appreciated.

From what I have heard, any of the 3 mentioned are all first rate places.

I believe one of the members here hunted at Dos Plumas recently, but I think he is already headed out on another trip. When he gets back I will try to point him to this thread.

I know a fellow who hunted Dos Plumas, and he was entirely satisfied. He rifle-hunted and took a large boar and a nice eating-sized sow -- and said that there were plenty of hogs on the place.

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen. I am awaiting responses from them to my email. I am not in a hurry so I am sure they will respond when they get a chance.

I have read some on the Plumas place but I can't find much on the Plaska Lodge. Both appear to be nice places.

You guys know the state better than I and are there pigs near Amarillo? The Plaska place is just outside of there. I thought the pigs were more north, south, and east. At least that is what I have been reading.

There are really few places anymore in Texas that don't have pigs.

In some areas they are more localized with fairly large numbers concentrated in an area only a few miles in diameter.

Most of the places offering these hunts usually are located in the areas where the population of pigs is at or almost at the saturation point for the area.

The pigs are normally tied to some stable body of water, whether it is a lake/river/creek/series of springs or stock ponds or areas along the coast.

I believe on any of the places you listed, there will be ample opportunities to connect with a pig. JMO.

I'm only familiar, second-hand, with Dos Plumas.

A buddy of mine hunted there a couple years ago with two other fellas. In three days of hunting, they saw only two hogs and shot none. He said they were heavily pressured by the owner to shoot exotics (for extra money) and forget about the pigs.

A coworker hunted there in May of this year and said there were plenty of pigs. He hunted two days and shot two nice-sized pigs. He and his young son had a nice time.

Take that for what it's worth.

I know nothing about Plaska Lodge, but I know that pigs are abundant around Memphis. It's about a hundred miles from Amarillo.
