In mid April I will be at a rifle shoot in Georgia, and may have a chance to go after another hog while I'm there. I took a 425 pounder in Florida with a 375 H&H last January, and Had a ball with it. My wife just says she doesn't want to know how I take the next one until after it's done. I'm looking to take one in the 150-200 pound range, and I'd like to take the next one with a knife. What guidelines would you suggest on a hog knife. I know I've already got a few that will likely do just fine, just need to decide which one it is.

I recommend something in the 6" to 8" range. K-Bar makes a smallish bowie knife that can be had for $45-50 that works great. I can't remember but I think it has about an 8"blade..the only think I don't like about it is that it doesn't have much of a pronounced finger guard. The regular K-Bar's work well also. When you get into the 10"blades they are heavy and you can really feel them flapping against your leg when you are moving through the woods..even with a tie-down around the leg. Most of my clients use stuff around 7" and they work great. Good luck on the hunt..If you get over towards Texas we would love to have you come out with us. AB

I like the cold steel recon scout or a trail master ,but any knife of at least 3ocms blade and good kraton or similar handle would work.Juan
