Daughter's first pig of this deer season......
She killed him yesterday evening about 5:30 with her (gasp) .223 with 64 gr power points. Heart shot at about 90 yards. A weighed 220 pounder. We called everyone we could think of but no takers, so we chunked it.

Congratulations to the young lady on really good pig.

Yes, it is getting harder to find anyone willing to take a pig of any size if it ain't ready to wrap up and put in the freezer.

I have had the same problem with deer. Can give all the cut and wrapped venison away but offer some one a whole carcass. Most turn their nose up at it.

Really. I mean, if it is someone who is incapable of cleaning one, that's one thing, but too lazy is another.

Wrapping it up freezer ready is like paying them to take it in my book. Most don't want to get their hands dirty.
Several years ago, I gave a co-worker who loves snapper soup a live 20 pound snapper for some soup and they didn't want to kill it. So, back in the river it went.

Did not want to 'kill' a snapper ?

Did they think it was going to commit suicide. ?

Sounds to me like you should have waited-------for them to get a bit hungrier !

I'm going to check with a local church pastor and see if he has some older members, widows who might want some pork. We've chunked about 10 in a row lately and I'm sure someone could use at least some of the meat.
I don't mind cleaning them for someone who can't do it for themselves. Just taking the backstraps is easy, unless you're Kensco. Wink
