georgeldBobby Tomek
Been getting a few e'mails from Bobby.
Couple days ago he sent one that he's been having terrific migraines most everyday that lays him low much of the time.
Hasn't even been able to load ammo, let alone shoot it.
Thought I'd let folks know to pass along some well wishing his way.
Thanks,
George

No Sir, it is not an old wives tale, and I can feel bad for Bobby and wish him the best.
As for the Migraines, Lora suffers from them and YES, depending on the strength of a weather front, her migraines start, 24 to 48 hours before the front actually reaches this area. A really hard front will basically put her down for 3 or 4 days, even with medications.

georgeldNever thought of it before. But, do you suppose this may be one of the ways animals know weather is moving in soon?
I feel it in my back at times.
About 1979 I got whacked in the head with a hunk of steel. Couldn't claim that as migraines but I sure had a few years of mighty nasty headaches. I feel for such folks.
Speaking of Bobby, today I got a real nice Christmas card from him, not much message, just greetings. Wish I had hand writing that nice!

CrazyhorseconsultingAt one time in human evolution, we all probably were more in tune with changes in Barometric pressure.
One of the things becoming more civilized most of us have lost.
Rising or falling barometric pressure does affect animal movement, a steady barometer sort of shuts things down somewhat.
Lora really suffers some bad migraines, up to the point of having to go to the ER to get some relief.

meteBobby, there are a bunch of us behind you , pushing you to make up for the problems !!
Yes animals are great weather guys. Another thing weather changes can bring is pollen. Some know long ahead that weather is changing as they get allergy problems/.
As far as Texas is concerned - the 'Lone Star Tick' has now reached Maine ! One strange symptom is it makes you allergic to red meat !!

I am 65, born and raised in North Texas and been bit by many a tick, but I still crave Red Meat???
Something must have changed when those ticks crossed the Mississippi and Mason-Dixon Line!

Jeff SullivanI had heard through a mutual acquaintance that Bobby was suffering with the migraines and am hoping and praying he can get some relief soon.

georgeldThis evening (Tues) I got a short e'm saying.
His boys were all there for the holidays and he was enjoying the company even though the noise was a bit much.
Sounded like he was doing much better Tuesday
Had a few ticks when I was young, never got in my way of red meat either. Randal: it don't make much difference either way, but, I've got 6 yrs on you, almost 7. Kids, ha!
What seems to help Lora's headaches? What does the ER do for her?

CrazyhorseconsultingWhen her migraines get bad enough for the trip to ER, they give her a shot of a drug called Stadol and a second shot of a drug called Fennrigin. I don't think that is the technical nanes or spellings, but that is what the Drs. call them.
She them goes home and goes to bed. She does have a prescription for Stadol nasal spray that helps her control migraines if she feels one coming on early enough before the symptoms get bad.

Bobby TomekThanks for the concern and kind words, guys. It is much appreciated.
The various health issues have indeed kicked my butt as of late, but I am hanging in there and doing what I can.
Haven't been on the board much as I really just don't have much to post anymore, and sometimes looking at a screen isn't the best thing when fighting the migraines.
But when I pop the next piggie, I promise to post pictures...

You guys take care, and have a wonderful 2016.
PS-Randall-I take Zomig and Promethazine for the migraines. Zomig is the first thing that ever worked for me. But they have become so frequent that I have to alternate with Promethazine or else suffer refractory headaches. The promethazine does not "fix" them but is a high enough dose that it puts me out for a few hours. When I awake, it is usually gone or at least somewhat bearable.

chestermcTake it or leave it.
My wife has suffered for 40 plus years and my youngest daughter for about 20 years.
there have been dozens of trips to the ER and many meds tried and little success. Than my daughter went to a accupunturist and a needle in the bump just above the ear hole inside of the inner ear stopped the pain for a while.
this went forgotten for a couple of years while botox and other things were tried.
Two months ago we heard that if you got pearcing in that spot that the needle effect would last a long time and if a headache started putting pressure on the small ear ring could help a lot or even stop the pain.
It works. Best 60 bucks we have spent ever.
Not perfect not every time, but at least 75% improvement.
Our family doc approves and was 100% behind trying.
God Bless those with this problem.

larryshoresI do believe acupuncture works.
Don't be afraid to try non-traditional medicine especially if standard methods don't work. I had migraines only once that I can remember . It was an allergic reaction at a shooting match of all places.Took me a bit to figure what was happening.Someone was cleaning his gun before the match. That chemical resulted in six hours of intense headachs !!
Recent allergy tests used a probe at an accupuncture point, worked perfectly !

CrazyhorseconsultingEven doctors do not really know what triggers migraines in any individual.
What does work or may work for one person, may not/will not work for another.

A7drvrDon't know if you TX hog hunters are affected but here in FL some of the hogs have a type of swine fever that causes severe headaches if you happen to get the hog blood in an open wound and become infected. FL authorities have recommended for many years now that anyone butchering wild hogs wear heavy dishwashing type gloves. Most of my hunting buddies solved the problem by just not butchering the critters. The ranches I've hunted lately just want them dead so they tell us to shoot them and drag them out in the open so the buzzards can eat them. Fine with me as I don't eat buzzards either!!!!!!
